'eyelan fling
After a great night sleep we set off through the mountains for Pitlochry. The BOSS has spent the last three days that we have been in the Scottish Highlands trying to spot a fluffy cow - or eyelan coo - depending on your accent. It is with great disappointment that the only photo she is able to present to you is from the rear. We did see a wild haggis though!!
Pitlochry was a charming little town when I visited 20+ years ago and unfortunately the tourists have discovered it and made it not so charming. We spent a few hours looking around shops and checking out the salmon ladder at the dam then we drove on to Aberfeldy to the Highland Games. I really wanted to show the BOSS what a genuine highland games was like and the small town Aberfeldy games did not disappoint. We spent a wonderful afternoon watching the Tug-o-War, the hammer toss, the terrier race and the Highland dancers among other events. The BOSS was most impressed with the craft tent, the vegetables and the flower arrangements.
Our accommodation was once again going to be provided by a generous member of the Hospitality Club, Tracey. She didn't finish work until 8pm so we had a very poor dinner in the local pub and then after retiring to Tracey's flat, we spent the rest of the evening chatting till the wee small hours.
