Day of Chateaux

La Cellette, Limousin, France
Wednesday, June 6, 2012

Dave and Wendy have invited me to stay in their West Wing - about 200km south in Creuse. I plotted a route to bypass all the main roads and take me past some magnificent Chateaus. The roads here are wonderful. Even the smallest backroads have perfect surface and no loose gravel or other surprises.

I wanted to see the Chateau at Chenonceaux but when I got there they wanted 34€ just to take a photo. I snuck around the other side of the river and took Henry about 2kms up the tow path to get the view I wanted. Like Mrs Mac, Henry has no problem going bush - even fully loaded as he is.

After that I just cruised south for the rest of the day, revelling in the glorious sunshine/cloud/sunshine/cloud and loving these roads.

Dave met me in his village then took me back to his cottage to meet Wendy. After we'd taken the dogs for a walk through the fields we spent a very pleasant evening exchanging views on the various different cultures of our respective and adoptive countries.
