Wine country
The blue sky turned black and it rained and rained and rained.
I stayed tucked up in the tent until 10am as there was no point trying to do anything else.
I then set about trying to dry everything but it was pointless. I'd paid for two nights in Bourg and I wasn't going to pack up a wet tent and move on just because of a little rain - I just hoped that during the day it would fine up enough so that the ground is not too waterlogged.
I got all my bike gear together and headed south into Bordeaux. I don't usually like large cities and this one is no exception. I braved the Freeway and tangoed with the trucks. I followed the signs to "centre" until the signs ran out and I found myself lost in the suburbs. I eventually found different signs and made my way towards the church spires. The traffic was just manic - and the roads were wet and there were roadworks everywhere. I finally found the church square and just parked the bike. I do love that you can park a bike ANYWHERE you like.
I wandered around town looking for an Information Bureau but found none. I followed the shopping road to the river and saw some nice buildings but am overall unimpressed by Bordeaux. I did manage to get my hair cut using charades which was highly amusing.
Spent the entire afternoon in a café using their free internet and drinking way too much strong coffee. Had a good chat to the BOSS who suggested I learn the French word for Hot Chocolate.
